The Trough Creek Community Adventurers 4-H Club held a meeting at the United Methodist Church in Cassville on January 17, 2011. The meeting was started by new club president Cora Waite. A workshop on market beef and goat body parts was instructed by club leader Jodi Cresswell.
Club members recapped on the holiday deliveries of cookies and Christmas cards to the Cassville community residents. The fleece throws made by members in November where donated to the Home for the Ageing. The club Christmas party held in December was enjoyed by all.
Club officers and leaders met in December to organize the clubs calendar of events for the 2011 4-H year. The list of monthly events was handed to all members in attendance. Club members where reminded of the April 1 deadline for the online e-data 4-H enrollment. Jessica and Jaymee Heeter updated us on their class placing at the 2011 Farm Show in Harrisburg, PA. Jessica Heeter placed 2nd with a Senior 3 year old Milking Short Horn, 1st with a Junior 2 year old Milking Short Horn and was awarded Reserve Champion in the Youth Division. Jaymee Heeter placed 2nd in a winter yearling open class and 2nd in her Youth Division.
Penn State Lady Lions 4-H day is scheduled for January 30, anyone interested in tickets are to contact the Huntingdon County Extension Office. A club family fun night is being planned for February 26, 2011 at the Holiday Bowl in Huntingdon. Members and their family need to sign up at the February meeting to ensure we reserve enough lanes. An Alpaca project meeting will be held at the Terrace Mt. Alpaca Farm on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:00 am.
A project education day was held on Sunday, January 23 at the United Methodist Church in Cassville. Members in attendance worked in small groups with a goat learning lab.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 14 at the United Methodist Church in Cassville, starting at 6:30 pm.
