The Southern Pride 4-H Club held their regular monthly meeting on January 5th at 6:30 p.m. in the community room at Community State Bank of Orbisonia. President Libby Sarra called the meeting to order. The pledges were led by Keith and Katie Anderson. Secretary Liz Scott took roll call and read the secretary's report the December meeting. Keith Anderson read the treasures report. Motions were made by: Curtis Starr and Michaela Gartland to approve the reports. New members were introduced by Vice President Camden Woodward. The new members are Kalee and Mikara Anderson, Raven Booher, Nick Fogal, Isaac Kauffman, Morgan & Tyalor Maslanik, Mason Parks, and Jocelynn Whitsel. The club welcomed new members with a round of applause.
Under old business: The club's fleece blanket project went well and was able to make 13 blanets and give to Children's Ward at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital. Also, the new 2010 Club officers were elected during last month's meeting.
Under new business: The club talked about the future plans of 2010 and activities for theclub. We are planning on meeting in Shade Gap on January 9th for the Farm Show in Harrisburg. Kevin Detwiler of Detwiler Transportation will be driving a bus for the club. The club will provide ham and cheese sandwich bagged lunches and the cost of transportion. Camden and Dane Woodward and Katie Anderson did a presentation on raising/showing a dairy beef. Christine Corl will be guest speaking about membership enrollment, project books and the 4-H endowment fund during the February meeting. After the business meeting, the club enjoyed a Market Steer Meat Cuts/Parts game led by Derrick Cramer, the winners were Kalee Anderson and Tylor Maslanik. Snack was provided by the Anderson and Woodward families. Motions to adjourn the meeting were made by Keith Anderson and Curtis Starr. The next meeting will be held on February 2, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Community State Bank of Orbisonia.

Piney Ridge 4-H Club
Piney Ridge 4-H Club members visited the DeForrest Apartments on December 4th and delivered fruit baskets to the residents while singing Christmas carols.

Trough Creeek Community Adventurers 4-H Club
The Trough Creek Community Adventurers 4-H Club held a meeting at the United Methodist Church in Cassville on January 18th. The 4-H e-data enrollment deadline is April 1, 2010. An online e-enrollment workshop will be held at the Trough Creek Valley Elementary School on January 20, 2010 from 3:45 - 5:00 p.m. A Johnson Hall workshop will be held at the United Methodist Church in Cassville on January 24th from 2 -4 pm. Crafts to be worked on are beaded bracelets, foam crafts, and plastic canvas. February's project is to be fabric painting. All members are to supply their own tee shirts. The 4-H Club members received their 2010 project and livestock record books. The club's 2010 calendar was discussed. Some upcoming events include glow bowling at Holiday Bowl in Huntingdon March 27th and 4-H camp in June. The club is participating in the countywide 4-H fund raisers of Gardners Peanut Butter meltaways, Jo Corbi's pizza and Country Creations Candles. The winter community service project i s a canned food drive to benefit the Huntingdon County Food Bank. A rabbit showmanship demonstration was given by Lyndsay Reed and a cavy demo by Alexis Crotsley. Club members were able to see several rabbit breeds and ask questions. The next meeting is scheduled for February 8, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Cassville starting at 6:30 p.m.

Piney Ridge 4-H Club
On January 5, 2010, the Piney Ridge 4-H Club held their monthly meeting with their newly elected officers. The officers for 2010 are: President - Stacia Wible; Vice President - Kelsey Donnelly; Secretary - Kara Donnelly; Treasurer - Briana Hughes; Historian - Katie Bollinger; News Reporter - Kelsey Donnelly; and Song & Game Leaders - Ariel Monica, Adian Walters and Taylor Heeter.
Reports were given on the winter activities that included a trip to JB Tree Farm, Humane Society, bell-ringing at Wal Mart and caroling at The DeForrest Apartments.
The members discussed projects for this year that included cooking, sewing, babysitting, rocketry and others.
Our next meeting will be held on February 2, 2010 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the 4-H Extension Office. New members are welcome. Please call the Extenison Office at 643-1660 for information.

Huntingdon/Blair County 4-H County Council
The Huntingdon and Blair County 4-H County Council club met on December 3rd at the Extension Office in Huntingdon. Vice President Logan Detwiler called this meeting to order. Layne Reihart gave the secretary's report. We then were given the treasurer's report. We talked about our upcoming sandwich sale. We will be selling Sweet Bologna, Turkey and Ham Sandwiches. We discussed what countywide fundraisers we will be doing and decided to sell Joe Corbi's Pizza and Cookie Dough, Gardner's Peanut Butter Meltaways and Country Creations Candles. There was a a note that there will not be a Wal-Mart figt card reward for selling this year. Instead the items you sell will help pay the Educational Materials Fee and insurance fee. We talked about our upcoming trip to Wharton County, Texas. Our date is set for June 28th - July 3rd. We handed in all of our cookie order forms. We set the date to make all the cookies and that date was December 14th at 5:30 p.m. at the Extension Office. We decided that we will be having a County Council Social after making all the cookie orders. We would like to thank everyone who bought cookies to help send us down on the 4-H Texas Exchange trip. We talked about the 4-H State Leadership Conference at PSU on January 29th - January 31st. Then we gave out a paper about the upcoming Central Region 4-H Teen Retreat on March 19 - 21st. We were reminded that registation for 4-H this year is online. Go to the following website to register: www.huntingdon.extension.psu.edu and click the e-data link on the lower left hand column. The news reports and upcoming events will also be on the 4-H Blog which is www.huntingdoncounty4h.blogspot.com. Our meeting was then adjourned and the next meeting is January 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the Extension Office.

Trough Creek Community Adventurers 4-H Club
TCCA 4-H Club held a meeting on December 14 at the United Methodist Church in Cassville. the 4-H members had a fun filled night of spreading Christmas cheer. Each member donated various holiday goodies and Christmas cards. The kids assembled plates with an assortment of cookies and fudge. The plates of goodies and Christmas cards signed by the members were then handed out to families in the community. The next club meeting is January 18th at 6:30 p.m. a tthe United Methodist Church in Cassville.

Trough Creek Community Adventurers 4-H Club members made fleexe throws to be donated to West Minister Woods Nursing Home. The members and parents completed 17 throws. Thank you to all the parents who donated material. Also, a special thank you goes to JDM Outlets of Shirleysburg for donating 8 fleece shawls. The throws and shawls will be delivered before Christmas.

The Southern Pride 4-H Club visited the 2010 Farm Show in Harrisburg on Saturday, January 9th. Kevin Detwiler of Detwiler Transportation drove a school bus for the club. The club enjoyed a day of seeing all the sites and sounds of the rodeo, the farm animals, 4-H club displays and equipment demonstrations.
