The Southern Pride 4-H Club held their regularly scheduled meeting at the Community Bank of Orbisonia July 7th at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Secretary Katie Anderson. The Pledges were led by Anna Goshorn and Derrick Cramer. Secretary Katie Anderson took roll call and read the secretary report from the June meeting. Chase Greene read the treasurer's report from the June meeting. Motions were made by Jessica Green and Keith Anderson to approve the reports.
Under Old Business - the fleece blanket project went well thanks was given to Tate and Beth Robinson for leading the project, 4-H camp went well the members who attended had a great week. Tye dye shirts were given to the members who could not attend the tye dye day with the club. Tye dyed shirts are for the food booth fair week.
Under new business - July 1st is deadline for livestock entry forms, July 20th is deadline for all Johnson Hall entry forms, July 13 and 14th Leaders Shannon Cramer and Brian Greene will be weighing club livestock. If any member wants their livestock weighed please talk to Shannon and Brian after the meting. August 1st is work day at the fairgrounds at 9 a.m. August 6th club will meet at 6 p.m. a the fairgrounds to finish any stall preparations. There will be no August meeting. July 25th Leader Kevin Goshorn will be with Dr. Judy Jaxtheimer for livestock vet inspections, all members showing livestock need to make arrangements with Kevin for inspection. July 11th Rabbit Ranchers club has invited our club to their annual picnic/showmanship workshop. All members were reminded to get sponsors and remit payments to the Junior Livestock committee.Members showing livestock were reminded to send out their buyer letters. All project books need to be handed in to Leader Carrie Anderson at the September meeting. July 18th there will be a Farm Safety Day 4 Kids at the Fairgrounds from 9 to 11 a.m. Members interested in helping will meet at the Anderson home to work on the Club Display for Johnson Hall, August 1st 4 p.m. Members doing a Rocket project will meet at the Anderson Home to launch rockets and complete project. The club will have a covered dish supper fair week - August 13th at 5:30 p.m. Meet at Brian Greene's camper and bring a dessert and main dish to share. August 29th the club will have their annual picnic at Cowans Gap State Park. Meet at 10 am and plan on eating at noon. Leader Beth Robinson is organizing this event, if you have any questions, please call Beth. The club is planning on doing a fleece blanket community service project in December; we will discuss the details during the September meeting.
Game and song leader Keith Anderson had a Fourth of July word scramble game. Tate Robinson and Jessica Greene won the game. Keith then led the club in singing Happy Birthday for July and August birthdays. A snack of brownies was provided by Anna Goshorn. The Southern Pride 4-H Club met August 29th at the Cowans Gap State Park for their annual picnic. Everyone brought a covered dish to share for lunch, along with hamburgers and hotdogs prepared by Todd Robinson. After the lunch time meal, the club enjoyed a day of fishing, swimming, walking and boating.

Under Old Business, the club talked about the fair and each member got to tell what they achieved at the fair. Leader Carrie Anderson thanked all of the members that donated money from the Livestock Sale back to the 4-H Forever Fund.
New Business - the club discussed having a fundraiser of ham sandwiches - the date set for delivery will be November 3rd. The livestock project books and officer books need to be handed in to Carrie Anderson at the meeting. Discussion about a hay ride to be held at John & Jennifer Goshorn's house on October 3rd, the time for the hayride will be set closer to the date. Plans are being made for the annual club banquet. They will be finalized at the October meeting. The club also wants to participate in the Mount Union Halloween parade and will make arrangements to decorate the float at the next meeting.
