The Trough Creek Community Adventurers 4-H Club

The Trough Creek Community Adventurers 4-H Club held a meeting at the Huntingdon County Fair grounds on June 14, 2010. Brian Wiekert gave a goat showmanship and fitting presentation, followed by a regular business meeting.Club members where notified of the upcoming showmanship clinic that was held on June 26, at the Huntingdon County Fairgrounds. Members attending 4-H Camp where reminded of items to pack and of items that should remain at home. Additional e-data information needs added to the 4-H online enrollment program. Members in attendance received forms that indicate information that is missing from their profile. All needed information should be updated as soon as possible.

Huntingdon County Fair deadlines where discussed, livestock registration being July 2 and exhibitor registration July 9. The 2010 fair theme for shoebox floats and straw bale decorating is "The best days of winter". The livestock fairground cleanup day is scheduled for Saturday, July 31 from 9 am till 12 noon. Any member showing livestock should plan to attend. Club vet rounds was held on June 23. A halloween float committee was formed of the following club members: Jessica Heeter, Kaitlyn Boone, Abbey Cresswell, Rylan Boone, Hilliare Harkleroad, and Jaymee Heeter. Those on the committee will report sujested theme ideas at the July meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 12 at 6:30 pm to be held at the United Methodist Church in Cassville.

Southern Pride 4-H Club

Southern Pride 4-H Secretary Report
June 1, 2010

Southern Pride 4-H Club held their regular monthly meeting on June 1st at 6:30p.m. at the home of Wayne and Carrie Anderson. The meeting was called to order by Leader Carrie Anderson. A brief business meeting was held and members were reminded to sign up to work in the Fair Food Booth, and also to check the 4-H newsletter for Showmanship Clinic and Ethics training dates. After the business portion of the meeting, members Macy and Amanda Fisher and Megan Notestine had a presentation for showmanship, fitting and stockman contest training. Members first learned about important items to keep in a show box, such as halters, grooming supplies, and first aide items. Macy and Amanda then began a presentation for the club with basic rules about general appearance and conduct in the show ring. They then continued the presentation by showing members how to do fitting/clip, halter, walk, set up and show a Goat, Sheep, Dairy Beef, Dairy Cattle, Market Steer and Swine. Megan informed the club about getting a rabbit ready for showmanship with clipping nails, bathing, and the steps in Showmanship. After the Showmanship presentation the club was invited to have a mock stockman contest. The members learned basic grains and feed along with various equipment used with livestock. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m. and the club enjoyed a potluck of snacks provided by members. A very big Thank you to the Fisher and Notestine families for the presentation and wonderful teen leadership. The next meeting will be held July 6th at 6:30 p.m. at Community State Bank of Orbisonia.

Spring Farms 4-H Livestock Club

The Spring Farms 4-H Livestocks Clubs monthly meeting was held on July 13,2010 at the home of Mike and Pam Morgans. Christian Appleby led the 4-H pledge and Maelee Spargo led the American pledge. Our leader Pam Morgan asked who is going to Delgrosso Park on July 18, 2010. She passed out information about what is happening at the Fair and passed out sponsorship forms.Our leader ask if the veterinarian came around to check your animals. Ones that are showing animals need to help on Fair clean up day on July 31,2010 at 9:00 a.m.Working in food booth on Thursday of the fair the time is 3-7 p.m.Gage Parks made the motion to adjourn the meeting and Micheal Morgan seconded the motion . We had a picnic at Pam and Mike Morgan place . Next meeting refreshments will be brought by John and David Edgin .

Kody Harshburger led us in the 4H pledge. The American pledge was led by Tim Yoder. Valerie Coleman called the meeting to order and Gavi Walker seconded it. This month we had a picnic at the Yoders'. We had great food and it was an enjoyable day for all. Kendra Semple did the treasurer's report and there was no secretary's report. Gavi motioned to accept the treasurer's report and the secretary's report and Shayla Benson seconded the motion. In old business, the bean soup is September 15 and we are doing the activities there and representing 4H. We have moved our apple dumplings fundraiser to September. Fair cleanup is July 31 at 9 A.M. Moving on to new business, the vote was passed to buy beanie babies for buyers for this year only. We discussed what colors of t-shirts to buy but decided not make a decision until we know more about the costs. We also discussed starting a livestock judging team. Southern Pride 4-H Club

The Southern Pride 4-h club held the regular monthly meeting on July 6Th, 2010 at the Community State bank of Orbisonia. Derrick Cramer called the meeting to order. Malachi Kauffman lead the American pledge and Katie Anderson lead the 4-h pledge. Liz Scott took roll call and read the secretary's report. Keith Anderson read the treasurers report. Motions to approve these reports were made by Keith and Katie Anderson. Under old business: June meeting was held at the Anderson's and went well. Thank-you to Macy and Amanda Fisher and Megan Notestine for doing a showmanship presentation for the club during the June meeting. July 1st was the deadline for the livestock entry forms July 9Th for Johnson Hall. Under new business: Big Congrats to out 4-h campers for going Raven Booher and Jocelyn Whitsel. Vet checks are going to be July 10Th, 2010 Dr Judith Jaxtheimer will be going to members homes, please have paperwork and animals prepared for the check. Sign-up sheets for vet checks; fair stall signs; and food booth were brought to attention. E-Data enrollment see Jessica Whitsel for all updates and necessary changes. Discussion on livestock meeting report; weigh times, all members are to have all livestock weighed in no later than 6:00p.m. and cleaning stalls leader Carrie Anderson reminded members to have stalls cleaned before leaving the fairground. Katie and Keith Anderson;Masons Parks;Scott and Chance Goshorn; Lily and McKenzie Yohn; Madison and Brooks Walker; Shavonna Fegan and Taylor Maslanik all attended the showmanship clinic on June 26 The clinic was very informative and helpful. All members that attended learned alot and enjoyed the day. All members needed Ethics training see Carrie Anderson after the meeting for training dates. There will be a Rabbit Showmanship training and learning time at Angie Parsons this month, that date will be announced soon. July 31st 9:00-12:00 will be fair clean up day. Derrick Cramer then adjourned the meeting. Motions to adjourn meeting were made by Keith Anderson and Scott Goshorn. Snack was provided by the Sarra and Starr families. The next monthly meeting will be August 3rd at the Huntingdon County Fair grounds.
